Sculptra – the “Surgery-Free,” “Non-Invasive Facelift”
Dr. Stuart Kincaid
As skin begins to lose its elasticity due to aging, patients may become dissatisfied with frown lines, crows' feet and other fine lines and wrinkles. Dr. Kincaid offers a variety of anti-aging procedures, including Sculptra injections. Sculptra is one of the latest injectable fillers available and has earned the nickname, the “surgery-free facelift,” because of its remarkable results with minimally invasive techniques. Patients who have received Sculptra injections report an 80 percent improvement in their treated areas and boast results for up to two years.
To help patients better understand Sculptra and the aesthetic results it helps achieve, Dr. Kincaid has compiled a collection of Sculptra before-and-after photos in addition to a media page, which contains informative videos. He invites you to explore these pages:
What is Sculptra?
Sculptra is an injectable filler that treats aging skin folds, indented chin surfaces, hollowed cheeks and sunken eyes. It is highly effective at easing the signs of aging to produce smoother, more youthful-looking skin.
Sculptra injections are made from a synthetic Poly-L-lactic acid material, which is superficially injected to the surface of the skin. Once injected, the material increases the thickness of the skin to treat fine lines and wrinkles. Commonly used in dissolvable stitches, Poly-L-lactic acid material is biocompatible and can be dissolved by the body.
What to Expect
When you first arrive, Dr. Kincaid will determine the injection points to treat the area desired. Then, he will decide and measure the appropriate amount of Sculptra to be used for the procedure. Next, Sculptra is injected into the predetermined sites, inserting the filler under the dermis and subcutis layer of the skin. Once the injections are complete, he encourages patients to apply ice packs to reduce swelling and promote quick recoveries.
After the procedure is complete, the results gradually develop over a few weeks. The results typically last for up to two years; however, some patients may return every six weeks to receive touch up treatments.
Benefits of Sculptra
Many patients enjoy Sculptra injections as opposed to other anti-aging procedures because it is a minimally invasive procedure. Patients can typically return to their normal activities immediately. In addition, Sculptra injections are relatively quick and painless procedures, and is performed on an out-patient basis within 15 to 30 minutes, using topical numbing creams to treat any discomfort.
With results for up to two years, Sculptra is often the desired choice for patients who desire long-lasting, effective anti-aging treatments. As a leading plastic surgery San Diego specialist, Dr. Kincaid is proud to offer Sculptra injections along with other injectable fillers, such as Botox® Cosmetics and JUVÉDERM® Injectable Gel. He also offers as many non-invasive CO2 laser resurfacing procedures, such as DOT Therapy, as well as Galvanic Spa facials.
**Sculptra is pending FDA cosmetic approval in the United States and is currently indicated
