Tummy Tuck San Diego / La Jolla
Abdominoplasty Temecula / Murrieta
As a superbly trained and highly experienced San Diego tummy tuck surgeon, Dr. Stuart Kincaid has performed many abdominoplasty procedures, helping numerous patients enhance both their appearance and self-esteem. His reputation for advanced surgical skill and attentive care attracts patients from throughout the greater San Diego area, including La Jolla, Temecula, Murrieta, Riverside County and Inland Empire. In the paragraphs below, Dr. Kincaid explains abdominoplasty procedure and the results tummy tuck San Diego patients can achieve through it.
Tummy Tuck: What Is It?
Tummy tuck, also referred to as abdominoplasty, is a comprehensive surgical procedure designed to create a flat midriff appearance. During tummy tuck surgery, Dr. Kincaid removes excess skin and fatty tissue and gently rearranges the underlying muscle structure. As a result, his San Diego / La Jolla tummy tuck patients enjoy firmer, shapelier stomach contours. In addition, tummy tuck surgery can help reduce the appearance of unsightly stretch marks many women notice after giving birth.
Compared to liposuction, tummy tuck is a more invasive surgical procedure as it requires a long incision in the lower abdominal area. However, the results of abdominoplasty are also more comprehensive than those delivered by liposuction. Thus, tummy tuck procedure not only removes redundant fatty tissue deposits but it also repairs torn stomach muscles and greatly improves the appearance of stomach skin.
Abdominoplasty Surgery in San Diego
Dr. Stuart Kincaid typically performs tummy tuck surgery under general anesthesia (the patient is asleep and does not feel anything). However, less comprehensive stomach reshaping (also referred to as a mini tummy tuck) can sometimes be performed using local anesthesia and intravenous sedatives. Because the medical needs and preferences of each tummy tuck San Diego / La Jolla patient are different, Dr. Kincaid carefully discusses their anesthesia options during pre-surgical consultations.
After the patient has been prepared for surgery, Dr. Kincaid creates an incision just above the pubic hair and extending to the sides of the stomach. He then skillfully rearranges the stomach tissues in order to create a flat, slim torso. Once this process is completed, the incisions are closed and the stomach is covered with special surgical bandages. Because each patient's situation is unique, the time in surgery varies from 2 to 5 hours.
Tummy Tuck Recovery
Immediately after the tummy tuck procedure, patients might experience some discomfort in the stomach area, which can be managed with pain medications. They might also notice swelling, bruising and numbness in the operated area. These conditions typically resolve within a few weeks, after which time most San Diego plastic surgery patients who have undergone abdominoplasty can resume their everyday activities. However, strenuous exercise should be avoided for about eight weeks in order to allow the stomach tissues to heal properly.
Once the patients have recovered, they can enjoy their newly slim figures without having to worry about any special precautions. The results of tummy tuck are permanent providing that patients do not gain a large amount of weight. As an experienced San Diego, La Jolla and Temecula tummy tuck surgeon, Dr. Kincaid takes the time to explain the importance of proper diet and exercise regimen in order to maintain the beautiful results achieved through abdominoplasty surgery.

Actual Happy Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck) and Liposuction Patient
"On October 3, 2014, I had an abdominoplasty with Dr. S. Kincaid. For a month, I got my body prepared for a very significant surgery that requires general anesthesia. The surgery lasts approximately 3-4 hours. The recovery several weeks. My surgery with Dr. Kincaid was to clean up the 5 scars I had on my abdomen from 5 prior surgeries (not cosmetic) as well as the post-effects of 3 pregnancies.
Preparation for major surgery is key, but post-surgery is even more critical. I've been in the health insurance industry for 25 years, 18 of those years I have been a California licensed Life & Health Agent. When Dr. Kincaid suggested that I stay at SHARP for the first 24 hours for ONLY $650, I knew that it was an excellent deal. After all, I understand the price of providing health care.
Think about it for a minute.....you've just paid a lot of money for a major cosmetic surgery and you can go home? Women having a c-section get to stay in the hospital for 2-3 days! Staying at SHARP for the first 24 hours was the best decision I could ever have made. The nurses at SHARP, along with the rest of the staff, made it a lot quicker for me to transition back into my home the following day. Dr. Kincaid even came to visit. The first 24 hours after a major surgery are critical....anything can happen, like an infection and fever. Most health insurance companies don't cover expenses related to cosmetic surgery, so the costs of my going to the Emergency Room would have been out of my pocket. Those costs would have been a lot higher than $650!!
That being said, I also followed Dr. Kincaid's instructions to the letter. Don't use sanitary towels to cover your healing scar. Purchase the large Multi-Trauma Dressing Pads for around $67 for 50 pads. It's easy - just call 1-800-MEDLINE. I ordered before 3pm and they arrived at my home the next morning. MEDLINE works with consumers too, not just physicians. The one pad covers your entire area, so changing the pad is easy !! I also made sure that each day I took Vitamin C, a multi-vitamin, Iron and ate lots of protein. I also purchased the Scar Esthetique Cream ($27.95) and the Oleeva Abdominoplasty Shape ($92.95) I want my scar to be as invisible as possible.
You're paying a lot of hard-earned money for your surgery. Do it right!!"
