Christy Turlington talks plastic surgery

Saturday, May 18th, 2013

If there ever was a model so defining of the 1990s, it was Christy Turlington. The household name renders up thoughts of perfect lips, unique facial lines and a pin-thin, doll-like nose.

Many have wondered at the possibility of Christy Turlington having undergone some kind of plastic surgery, but she tells USA Today that she hasn’t done it but would possibly consider it for her neck – an area of the face that many women find aging very apparent.

“I don’t know, I feel like it’s getting freakier,” she tells the magazine. “Maybe there will be a time when you’re an oddball because you’re the only one left. I’d rather be the only one, the sole survivor. And in that case? I’ll just wear turtlenecks all year-round.”

Most likely, the supermodel won’t undergo the knife, although it’s a possibility. Lucky for Christy Turlington, she has beautiful genes to help outwit aging.

“That’s a girl’s life for the rest of her days — somewhere between a lollipop and shots.”

But cosmetic surgery really isn’t as grim – it’s incredibly accessible and affordable no matter what kind of procedure you need. Plus, with a wide array of financing, you can achieve the beautiful, youthful look you want without having to break the so-called bank.

As for Turlington’s approach to aging, she is endlessly charming.

‘When you smile, you look like you’re 16.’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah — and then there’s my neck.’ ”

PLASTIC SURGERY OPTIONS FOR SAGGING NECK

For women who can relate to Turlington’s dilemma, you don’t have to subject yourself to wearing turtlenecks the rest of your life. In fact, you can have the youthful neck you want without it looking obvious, younger than your face, or awkwardly tight. It can look completely natural with the right plastic surgeon in San Diego.

Here are some options for women with sagging necks:

Laser Therapy. The most innovative ways to rejuvenate the skin’s surface is through laser therapy. Using intense pulses of light, the skin’s collagen can tighten beautifully with deep, beautiful heat that can truly transform your skin. It is the perfect option for a sagging neck.

Neck lift. What a wonderful way to completely rejuvenate your neck area! A neck lift is just what the doctor ordered when it comes to completely improving the neck area. For issues of sagging or excess deposits of fat, a neck lift is the ideal choice because it helps refashion the skin area while leading to a tighter look when recovery is complete.

For more information on either of these procedures, call Dr. Kincaid at his San Diego office at 858-450-4199 – located conveniently in the beautiful La Jolla, California.

The new face of plastic surgery in Los Angeles

Saturday, May 4th, 2013

It used to be that plastic surgery could be called out from a mile away. Between overly large, round breasts, pulled faces and huge, plumped lips, the look of plastic surgery used to be one that was completely obvious. But not anymore.

According to a new report at LA Magazine, plastic surgery is not only beautiful, but natural-looking and highly effective at helping us look our very best.

“We all have fine lines. There are the parentheses bracketing our mouths, the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup crinkles deepening between the eyes, the Saturn rings encircling the neck. But the finest line is the one we draw in the sand,” said author Nancy Miller at LAMag.com. “It’s the one that defines what we’re willing to do—and what we’re not—to look (and stay) attractive, whether it’s prolonging our youth or enhancing our bodies.”

There was a time that plastic surgery was not only expensive but took months to recover from, leading men and women away from the positive effects that it could have on the face and body. Nowadays, it surprises many to learn that plastic surgery can be an affordable option for individuals who want to improve their look while healing with minimal downtime.

“Plastic surgery is at a turning point. The term has become shorthand for any artificial modification to the face and body, and in fact includes a spectrum of scalpel-free cosmetic procedures that has changed the meaning of ‘having work done,’” said Miller. “Cheaper treatments and improved results have increased the gravitational pull for the masses.”

PLASTIC SURGERY IN SAN DIEGO: WHAT IT CAN MEAN FOR YOU

If you’ve always wanted bigger and firmer breasts or liposuction for the thigh and buttock areas, but always believed it was too expensive or time consuming in terms of recovery, you may be surprised to learn that these plastic surgery procedures are actually more affordable than you think with quicker recovery times.

For facial improvement, you may want to consider Botox or Restylane to improve the look of fine lines and wrinkles. Botox is an excellent choice for forehead creases while Restylane can be used for the nasolabial folds (creases around mouth) and a more defined lip (without the overly puffed-up lip look).

Korean beauty contestants make headlines for eerily similar look as a result of so-called plastic surgery

Sunday, April 28th, 2013

When it comes to plastic surgery, the last thing anyone wants is a completely cookie cutter look. Not only is individuality embraced in the American culture, but it is also encouraged even in the face of cosmetic improvement. But not all cultures are the same.

In South Korea, one of the areas of the world with the highest rate of plastic surgery per capita, a certain look is most always desired. Between larger eyes and a more defined bridge of the nose, many women in Korea aim for a very specific appearance. A recent beauty pageant shows just how dramatic the similarities have become in what Koreans consider beautiful.

The so-called “clone parade” was reported on at Gawker.com as news of it first launched on social media site, Reddit.

“You aren’t racist,” one local wrote in a Reddit post on the topic. “Those women in fact do look unnervingly similar and yes, Koreans think so too. This is because they all get the exact same plastic surgeries and the surgeons follow the same formulas for noses and eyes and everything else theyve had done.”

“Girls here consider eye surgery just like using make up,” another Korean Redditor said according to the news source.

The truth is that a similarly cultured look isn’t much different here in the United States either.

“Even in a country as diverse as the US you’ll see a lot of similar looking women in these pageants because there’s a certain aesthetic they’re looking for (styled or shopped) that changes with what’s considered attractive to that particular culture at that point in time,” wrote user adlauren.

A clarification was made on another site called Kotaku where distinction was made between the contestants. It was suspected that pictures could have been photoshopped to achieve the uniform look. For more info on that story, click here.

THE UNIQUENESS OF PLASTIC SURGERY

Can plastic surgery be unique? It should be – and if your plastic surgeon says otherwise, you should probably shop for another plastic surgeon. That’s because individuality should be embraced and improved – not eliminated completely.

The well-established and respected cosmetic plastic surgery practice of Dr. Stuart Kincaid takes a different approach!

Rather than trying to make each patient look the same as a “clone,” the practice of Dr. Kincaid takes a much more personalized approach, carefully listening to the concerns and needs of each unique patient taking into account their ethnicity, age, gender unique desires then coming up with a unique, customized and most cost effective plastic surgery treatment plan tailored for each patient.

Plastic surgery trends for men

Sunday, April 21st, 2013

Plastic surgery is no longer stigmatized in American culture. In fact, we see so many reports of cosmetic enhancements like breast augmentation and facelifts on the covers of magazines that we are no longer shocked by someone wanting to improve their image. When it comes to men’s plastic surgery in Temecula, the shock value is not there – making men across the Inland Empire more comfortable in improving the way they look.

These days, men’s plastic surgery is all about looking natural and handsome without the look of being ‘done.’ Some of the most popular procedures for men include liposuction, and many times for the face – a new trend that is all the rage when it comes to looking well rested and younger.

“If you work hard and play hard, it’s impossible to keep your neck as tight as you want,” said one male patient according to a report at FOX news. “I was already busting my butt working out four days a week, but nothing was happening there, so I figured why not?”

Now more than ever, men are looking for a handsome look, and plastic surgeons in Temecula are well equipped to help them achieve that very ideal.

“There’s less of a desire now for a conventionally beautiful white-bread face,” said one plastic surgeon in Southern California according to the report.  ”People are embracing strong features like ethnic, non-traditional noses.”

One of the ways men are accommodating a larger nose is through chin implant surgery in Temecula. A strong chin has become a commonplace plastic surgery practice when it comes to balancing the face, especially one with a prominent nose. In fact, the ever-popular chin implant surgery as increased 71 percent according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Of course, some men opt for rhinoplasty outright when the nose needs more dramatic shaping.

“I did a rhinoplasty and a chin implant on a famous actor who had a monster nose and no chin. We left a bit of a bump in the nose, so it still looked like his, just a better version,” said one plastic surgeon of a recent male surgery. “No one, including the producer on his next project, noticed he’d had a nose job.”

Choosing a qualified, specialized rhinoplasty plastic surgeon when considering nose surgery

Sunday, March 17th, 2013

A new report at the Daily Mail reminds all individuals considering nose surgery in Temecula to research and choose a qualified and specialized board-certified plastic surgeon before undergoing the procedure.

Lavern Barnes, 51 and a beautician, says that her surgery ended up botched after a cosmetic surgeon left her with more bumps on her nose post-operation. She hadn’t researched the doctor prior to the surgery, and later found out that he had a record of poor surgery results.

Barnes said that her nose had bothered her all her life. Like many plastic surgery patients, a large or bumpy nose can result in the patient’s perpetual unhappiness as an individual becomes more focused on the problem area.

Barnes further added that her consultation lasted less than 10 minutes – a number that is generally far too low for a thorough consultation prior to undergoing plastic surgery.

The doctor said he would be able to fix her nose without breaking it alongside minimal bruising with one week healing to boot.

“That was all the time I could take off work so it sounded fine,” says Lavern.

Barnes believed her doctor was an expert since her friend recommended him.

Moments prior to the surgery, Barnes said she her doctor told her he intended to change the tip of her nose – something she had never discussed nor wanted.

“I told him that wasn’t what I had asked for. He had drawn markings on my nose and it was only when I argued with him that he suddenly scribbled new markings across my nose. Then that was it.”

RESEARCHING YOUR PLASTIC SURGEON FOR RHINOPLASTY SURGERY

If you are considering nose surgery in Temecula, it’s never been more important to ask the right questions prior to undergoing surgery.

From our previous blog titled, “Plastic Surgery Checklist and Questionnaire,” these questions are what to ask when interviewing a plastic surgeon in Temecula.

Are you an ASPS Member Surgeon?

Are you certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery?

Do you have hospital privileges to perform this procedure? If so, at which hospitals?

How many procedures of this type have you performed?

Am I a good candidate for this procedure? What will be expected of me to get optimal results?

Where and how will you perform my procedure?

Is the surgical facility accredited?

What are the risks involved with my procedure?

How long of a recovery period can I expect, and what kind of help will I need during my recovery?

Will I need to take time off work? If so, how long?

How much will my procedure cost? Are financing options available?

How are complications handled?

For more information on what kinds of questions to ask, read the rest of the blog here.

Injecting away chin fat

Saturday, February 23rd, 2013

Men and women will be pleased to know that new developments in facial contouring are underway. An injectable drug that disrupts fat cell membranes works to effectively remove fat deposits under the chin and is slated to be released shortly.

The injectable is said to break down fat and after reviewing results from a placebo-controlled study, the drug “led to significant improvements in clinician-reported measurements of SMF, supported by objective caliper measurements of SMF thickness,” according to Bayer Healthcare, the company developing the drug in partnership with Kythera Biopharmaceuticals.

That means that patients with double chins can expect positive results from the drug. As for its slated release, the injectable is under the second stage of development so while its release is expected soon, no firm date has been established.

Those who have a double chin ordinarily utilize liposuction to remove fat deposits. Once the injectable is publicly released, men and women can use a less invasive form of facial contouring to achieve a sculpted look.

The injectable uses an agent using a synthetic form of sodium deoxycholate that degrades dietary fat.

“We are pleased that the open-label study results further support the safety profile of ATX-101 for the reduction of submental fat and are consistent with our previous Phase II and the European Phase III trials,” said Patricia S. Walker, M.D., Ph.D., KYTHERA’s Chief Medical Officer. “These findings add to our robust clinical database of over 1,500 subjects treated with ATX-101 in our clinical development program for the reduction of submental fat.”

CHIN FAT REMOVAL ALTERNATIVES

Patients who don’t want to wait for the injectable chin fat removal drug can opt for liposuction to improve overall facial composition.

Chin liposuction is a safe procedure that, like the injection, removes fat deposits that can take away symmetry from the face.

If you’re considering chin liposuction in San Diego, call Dr. Kincaid, a board-certified plastic surgeon, at  858-450-4199. Palm Beach man allegedly performs plastic surgery procedures without license

Thursday, January 24th, 2013

This isn’t the first time an unlicensed person has performed plastic surgery on other individuals, but it is one of the more dramatic stories that depicts the dangers of “discount plastic surgery.”

Calvin E. Butler, performing plastic surgery services under the name Tamieka Butler, was allegedly renting a motel room in West Palm Beach where he was giving patients buttock injections using mysteriously sourced silicone and Krazy Glue to seal the incisions.

Sherriff deputies spoke to one his “patients” on Dec. 13. The women described the process which included felt tip markings on her body where Butler felt she needed more “fullness,” reports at The Palm Beach Post indicate. He would then apply Krazy Glue to the areas of the body which oozed blood or other fluid.

Butler charged $200 for the “buttock enhancement” procedure.

After her last visit, the woman began feeling nodules in her buttocks at the injection sites.

“Butler told her to take warm baths and to massage the nodules and that her symptoms would subside,” a deputy wrote in the affidavit according to the news source.

Not long after, the woman began experiencing fevers and swollen lymph nodes, eventually causing the wounds on her buttocks to open and ooze fluid.

She was prescribed antibiotics after seeking help from the JFK Hospital in Atlantis – a Palm Beach-based medical facility.

Despite her treatment, the woman’s pain returned. She returned to the hospital where she was treated for Lymphadenitis, a bacterial infection affecting the lymph nodes.

She now suffers from chronic pain and a chronic cough.

Another man who underwent the procedure was also contacted by deputies. After an in person visit, he was found with “open sores on his buttocks and… laying in a fetal position in his hospital bed when deputies arrived to speak with him.”

He told authorities his procedure cost $100.

The same man had to have his buttocks partially removed due to the serious infection that took place at the wound site.

He “has suffered disfiguring injury and a chronic infection which he is struggling to recover from,” the deputy wrote in the affidavit, according to the news source.

Lipoplasty is the most sought plastic surgery procedure in the world

Friday, January 18th, 2013

The battle of the bulge has proven its popularity now that Outpatient Magazine announced that lipoplasty is the most common plastic surgery procedure in the world. Lipoplasty, the liquefaction and removal of unwanted fat cells, represents nearly 20 percent of total plastic surgeries in the world. The United States, China, Brazil and Italy mark the countries where lipoplasty is most highly sought.

The report was announced by the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery earlier this month. ISAPS used a survey of 20,000 plastic surgeons to determine the most popular procedure in the world in 2011. According to Outpatient Magazine, “The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery assisted with the study, which had 996 respondents.”

Other frequently requested procedures included breast augmentation which followed closely behind at 18.9 percent of all requested procedures while blepharoplasty came in at 11 percent. Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), rhinoplasty (nose job), breast lift, breast reduction, facelift, gynecomastia reduction (male breast reduction), and otoplasty (ear surgery) were also popularly requested procedures in 2011.

The leading non-surgical procedure was Botox.

LIPOPLASTY SURGERY IN SAN DIEGO – HOW DOES IT WORK?

For men and women who want a slimmer, sleeker shape, lipoplasty may be the answer. Lipoplasty works beneath the skin’s surface to liquefy and remove stubborn fat cells. Lipoplasty is an enhancement to its popular sister liposuction, but works by ultrasonic technology instead. It liquefies fat while liposuction cannot. According to WebMD, lipoplasty uses high-frequency sound waves to melt fat beneath the skin’s surface. It is then removed by gentle suction.

Lipoplasty is commonly used on the chin, neck, tummy, legs, buttocks and ankles.

The first step in understanding if lipoplasty is right for you is to schedule a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon in San Diego specializing in lipoplasty.

For more information on this procedure and to schedule your consultation, call Dr. Kincaid at his centrally located La Jolla office at 858-450-4199. Lipoplasty is a generally safe and effective way to remove unwanted fat and renew your shape. Call us today and see what lipoplasty can do for you.

Two identities: Chasing stardom through plastic surgery

Tuesday, January 15th, 2013

How many of us can say we share the same name as a celebrity? Of those who can actually say they do, how many would elect to have plastic surgery to look like their name twin?

The answer is probably very few. But a girl with the name Jennifer Lopez took the moniker to heart, idolizing the Latin pop princess and even getting plastic surgery to look like the sexy singer.

Lopez, now 23, talks to The Sun as reported by the Huffington Post of her $16,000 plastic surgery at the tender age of just 15 years old.

“I felt like there was nothing about me — no boobs or bum, no defined figure. I just felt like a blob,” she told the news source.

Then-teen Lopez and her mother flew to her native Colombia to undergo liposuction, breast implants and buttock fillers in one day. Her goal? To look like Jennifer Lopez – the superstar.

“I love everything about her — her music, her image, her personality. She’s a really strong, successful, independent woman who is an excellent role model for girls,” Jennifer told The Sun. “Even after having kids she still looks incredible. We may share a name, but I can only hope to look that good at her age,” she added.

Jennifer says she doesn’t regret getting the surgery and says she now has an improved self-image.

“Since having my surgery, I’ve had so much attention from men. I love it.”

Jennifer’s sister Karen also underwent the same procedures. Her curves unexpectedly captured the attention of the opposite sex more than she expected.

“My bum is so big now but it’s kind of a curse because guys in clubs always want to have a feel of it. Even girls want a photo next to it. My body attracts everyone — I get too much attention and it annoys me,” Karen told The Sun.

She added, “Women with bigger bums are seen as more attractive. The bigger and rounder, the better. I’ve got the perfect body now. The more I gain weight, the bigger my bum gets.”

As for their age, both sisters agree they should have waited until they were older.

“I was too young, especially for the boob job,” said Karen. “When I have a daughter, I’ll make her wait till she’s at least 18.”

“I was still only a child,” her sister added.

Britney Spears’ alleged plastic surgery and liposuction makeover in 2013

Thursday, January 3rd, 2013

Britney Spears is the quintessential pop princess. And many can agree the star looks beautiful no matter what ups and downs she may go through. That’s life! But according to the news source Celebrity Dirty Laundry, the megastar will undergo plastic surgery and liposuction along with a strict diet in the coming year to correct what some are calling issues with wrinkles and body shape.

“Britney Spears is rolling in the new year with a new look . . . planning a full-body overhaul which will include a strict diet and exercise program along with extensive plastic surgery to her body and face.”

The news source added, “She’s unhappy when she sees photos of herself with a very obvious triple chin, and she complains she has fat on her back and stomach.”

“Britney wants to do as much as she can to her body to improve her appearance. So right after New Year’s she’s going to go full steam ahead to look wonderful again,” Celebrity Dirty Laundry quoted. The news source says her surgery procedures will cost nearly $150,000 by having liposuction, a possible brow lift, Botox, lip injections, and a chemical peel – all in unison with a better and healthier diet.

Regardless if Britney chooses to undergo plastic surgery, her fans will still adore her no matter what.

Since beauty is in the eye of the beholder, it only makes sense to do what you feel is best for yourself. Britney Spears is an example of that – no matter if she elects to have plastic surgery or not.

As for the credibility of the news, fans are questioning whether Britney will go under the knife since original reports were sourced at the National Enquirer.
