Innovations in breast implant surgery in San Diego

Friday, March 8th, 2013

“Are they real or are they implants?”

If you’ve caught yourself asking this very question when you see a young woman with perky, full breasts, you may never fully know whether they are nature’s gift or surgically enhanced. That’s because with today’s innovations in breast augmentation in San Diego, breasts no longer have to look “fake” – with the latest surgery trends, women today can have natural-looking implants that appear and feel like the real thing.

According to many plastic surgery clinics in San Diego, natural C-cups begin to sag by the time a woman reaches age 30. So when it comes to rejuvenating your appearance once aging sets in, natural breast augmentation may be just the ticket.

Here’s the latest in breast implant innovations in San Diego according to ASAPS.

Fat Transfer

For the most natural look and feel, a fat transfer or injection can provide the needed volume your breasts need to look full and perky again. If you have fat to spare – say, in the buttock, saddlebags or lovehandles – a plastic surgeon in San Diego can redeposit your very own fat into the breast area to increase its size.

The first step in achieving a fat transfer breast implant in San Diego is to undergo liposuction to remove the fat from the desired area. Then, the fat is re-deposited into the breast area after it is processed. Initial benefits include no scar tissue and a natural-looking, soft yet full breast that looks completely your own. Plus, who doesn’t want a slimmer backside or hip area?

Some downsides to fat transfer include the recovery due to liposuction and the cost of the procedure, which can run higher for less volume.

Other Trends in Breast Augmentation

Other breast implant options include gummy bear implants, which uses silicone Sientra breast implants to achieve a natural and beautiful look. Sientra has a tendency to look softer and more natural, so many women opt for gummy bear implants when undergoing breast augmentation.

The Naturelle breast simulator is also a great way for women to see what they look like if undergoing surgery to achieve a larger breast size. To try the simulator for yourself, click here.

Can plastic surgery help actresses – and everyday gals — further their careers?

Thursday, December 6th, 2012

Plastic surgery is not as shocking as it may have been decades ago. In today’s world, cosmetic enhancements are socially accepted, especially in Hollywood. And as a new interview with Jane Fonda suggests, actresses and even everyday women who get plastic surgery can in turn help their careers – but the trick in succeeding is also getting a natural result.

Fonda explains she didn’t want to look “done” so she kept some wrinkles around because, after all, the actress is turning 75 later this month. And in order to get the results she wanted, she really communicated with doctors before going under the knife.

“I don’t like it when it’s overdone,” she told Access Hollywood. “I made sure that they kept my lines. I didn’t want to lose my wrinkles, I just wanted to lose the bags under my eyes.”

Fonda says that plastic surgery helped further her career in Hollywood.

“We do live in a time when, if you can afford a good doctor, you can have subtle plastic surgery, which probably bought me five more years as an actor when I could be in movies,” she said.

Fonda is most known for her fitness tapes that span from the 1980s to right now, as she releases her next yoga DVD this month.

The actress admits it’s not just plastic surgery keeping her youthful-looking.

“I owe 30 per cent to genes, 30 per cent to good sex, 30 per cent because of sports and healthy lifestyle and for the remaining ten per cent, I have to thank my plastic surgeon,” said Fonda in another interview at SiriusXM Radio.

There’s no doubt that looking your best matters. These same sentiments have been expressed in other job environments, not just in Hollywood.

Looking your best at work

You don’t have to be an actress to want to look good at work. In fact, many studies have supported the fact that good looks contribute to better positions across many disciplines. Many chalk it up to pure instinct while others say it’s just the society we live in. The fact remains: looking your best has its positive advantages!

If you’re considering plastic surgery in San Diego, choose a doctor that’s recognized as a board-certified plastic surgeon, first and foremost. Cancer screening measures important for women with breast implant surgery

Sunday, November 11th, 2012

With breast implant surgery more popular than ever, many women are electing to undergo the procedure to improve their look or simply improve their self-esteem. But when it comes to detecting important health issues like cancer, women with breast implants must be diligent on their monthly health checks. Not because breast implants necessarily cause cancer, but because it’s essential to check out ANY kind of lump if detected without assuming it’s a scar from surgery.

The advice follows on the heels of a recent news report t CBS that says women who have breast implant surgery should be cautious when screened for cancer. In their report, Gill Green explains her story.

“Being a nurse this is a little embarrassing, but probably a year and a half. Thinking back, it may have been a little longer or a little less, but probably a year and a half I knew I had the lump,” she told the news source.

The nurse said she had a small lump on the side of her breast, but she didn’t think anything about it, only thinking it was scar tissue from her breast implant surgery.

“I was a nurse for, well, almost 30 years now. But I never got sick. So even though I had a lump, I just never thought it could be anything suspicious,” she explained. “I’m never sick. I’m never ill. How could it possibly be cancer? I ignored it.”

The months went by and the lump remained. Gill didn’t think too much about it until the lump grew in size. Finally, she sought the help of a doctor.

Gill was diagnosed with breast cancer – stage three according to reports. She hadn’t had a mammogram in seven years.

“It happened very quickly — mammograms, ultrasounds, biopsies, MRIs. Then within less than two weeks, I was in the surgery having a bilateral mastectomy,” she told the news channel. “I hear a lot of women say this too, like ‘it’ll never happen to me.’ I have no family history. I really didn’t know anybody who had breast cancer. I’d heard of friends of friends. But I just didn’t think it would possibly ever happen to me. I’m never ill. Never. Just never anything wrong with me. How could it happen? So I think it was more, looking back it was obviously denial. But I don’t think it ever struck me that  it was anything abnormal.”

Screening for breast cancer after breast surgery

It’s so important to check your breasts regularly for any lumps. Because some breast implant surgery can have a certain level of scarring, it’s critical to not assume that a lump, bump, or any kind uneven tissue is just scarring.

Always follow up on your yearly mammograms. Talk to your doctor if you suspect any kind of lumps in the breast. It goes without saying that the earlier you detect an abnormality, the quicker you can seek treatment.

New Study Says Underweight is Worse Than Overweight

Thursday, July 12th, 2012

thin woman1 New Study Says Underweight is Worse Than OverweightIt is surprising to see that according to a new study you can be too thin. According to a recent online article a new study implies that it could be much more detrimental to have your doctor give you an underweight diagnosis as compared with a diagnosis of” obese”.  Researchers at the University Of California Davis School Of Medicine reported that they surveyed 50,994 Americans who ranged in age from 18 to 90 years old over a time span of six years, with a goal of examining the link between body mass index ( BMI) and mortality based on a representative, contemporary United States sample. Their results were published in the Journal of American Board of Family Medicine. They discovered that based on the BMI model, being underweight was associated directly with an elevated mortality risk, in contrast to being overweight which was associated directly with a reduction in mortality risk. Morbid obesity was associated with an elevated risk of mortality however the association was directly linked to existing diabetes and/or hypertension. According to the study co-authors, Anthony Jerant, MD, and Peter Franks, MD much of the focus is placed on obesity and BMI with the direct correlation to mortality often being overlooked. Plastic surgery patients can also be too thin. It is important for plastic surgery patients to avoid losing so much weight that they are considered underweight. This can have a negative effect on their plastic surgery results. Dr. Stuart Kincaid explains to his breast augmentation patients that significant weight loss especially in thin patients can change the appearance shape and contour of an augmented breast. Patients can begin to see rippling where there may have been no visible wrinkling prior to the weight loss. In some patients this can be visible along the cleavage line as well as on the sides of the breast. This can happen most notably with saline implants however it is also possible to see rippling with silicone gel implants especially in very thin patients. For many patients re- gaining 5 to 10 pounds can cause the rippling to no longer be visible. In some instances patients with saline implants may choose to exchange the implants for silicone gel implants which are less likely to show visible rippling. Dr. Stuart Kincaid invites patients to schedule a consultation if they have concerns with previous breast augmentation and want to consider breast implant exchange.

If You Want X-Large Breast Implants You Should Choose an Expert

Tuesday, July 10th, 2012

large breast implants1 If You Want X Large Breast Implants You Should Choose an Expert Breast augmentation is the most popular cosmetic surgery. A small percentage of women want extremely large breast implants. A recent online news article highlighted a woman from the United Kingdom who chose to have extra-large breast implants with what later she found out to be an unqualified cosmetic surgeon. According to the story Andrea Scott had the desire to increase her bust size to an F-cup but once she had her breast augmentation surgery with the unqualified cosmetic surgery the stitches burst open and the implants began sagging out of the incision. There is an investigation currently underway to determine what happened with the surgery that was performed by Dr Ashish Dutta. It has been proven that the doctor inappropriately inserted the extra-large implants and that he also failed to provide her with a referral for a second opinion. He is also under masturbation for calling himself what is known in the United Kingdom as a “consultant cosmetic surgeon” which meant he did not have the qualifications to conduct invasive plastic surgery procedures. Dr. Dutta denies any wrongdoing and has declined all comment. Andrea Scott has had to carry out a string of subsequent surgeries and has spent the equivalent of more than $55,296 out-of-pocket to correct the atrocities that happened as a result of the surgery. She had four operations over a period of 18 months and says that she is left with both psychological as well as physical scars have a negative effect on her business and social relationships. Dr. Stuart Kincaid is considered to be an expert in breast augmentation using extra-large breast implants. As an  ASPS board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Stuart Kincaid  understands the necessary requirements for preparing the patient both physically as well as mentally for breast augmentation using extra-large implants. While complications can occur with any surgery, the best way to reduce the risk of complications is to select a well-qualified and experienced plastic surgeon like Dr. Stuart Kincaid. Dr. Stuart Kincaid is committed to a thorough assessment of the patient prior to surgery, to determine if in fact they are a good candidate for the procedure. Dr. Stuart Kincaid welcomes patients who are considering breast augmentation with either extra-large implants or the more popular sizes, to schedule a consultation to determine if breast augmentation is right for them.

Do Breast Implants in La Jolla Improve A Woman’s Sex Life?

Monday, July 9th, 2012

Breast implants in La Jolla are probably one of the most talked about procedures when it comes to cosmetic surgery, and according to recent trends, the number of women getting implants is increasing. The American Society Plastic for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery says there were 316,848 breast augmentation performed in the United States in 2011 compared with 101,176 such procedures in 1997. As the numbers grow so do the reasons for selecting the procedure. A new poll shows women who enhance their breast size have a better sex life. According to the poll, conducted by Realself.com, more than 60 percent of women said they have sex more frequently after the procedure than they did before it.

Dr. Andrew P. Trussler, M.D., a plastic surgeon in the Dallas area, and Plastic Surgery Assistant Professor for the University of Texas told Real Self, “The poll results are not surprising. I see a transformation in what patients wear and how they carry themselves in the office after having a breast augmentation. In my personal observation, women definitely feel more confident after the procedure, and you can easily see how that improved confidence will lead to improvements in other areas of their lives.”

One patient told Mail Online that her new breast renewed her self-esteem and her desire. “After having gone from an 32A cup to a 32FF, all of a sudden, the part of my body that had always been an embarrassment to me, became something that I was proud of and could feel confident while being with a partner. It is not just about the ability to impress a man. It’s about feeling self-confident within, which enables you to enjoy a sexual experience more freely and uninhibited,” she said. “I don’t believe breasts are just for a man’s pleasure. If a woman embraces her own body and feels empowered by it, then she will enjoy herself more.”

Mick Bucks, who recently had a breast augmentation agrees. “The best thing I have ever done and never ever regretted for one second was going from an A to a D. Nothing huge, but makes me feel so much better about myself.”
The Huffington Post, looking at the Real Self poll and commented, “It may be impossible to prove that the surgeries themselves were responsible for women’s increased sexual pleasure, but we suspect the confidence boost that patients receive has much to do with it.”

The survey also revealed other interesting trends:

  • Seventy percent of respondents said their overall sex life satisfaction improved after breast plastic surgery.
  • On a scale of one to ten, 28 percent of women who had breast enhancement say their sex life satisfaction improved by more than four points.
  • Seven-and-a-half out of every ten women said their breast enhancements were worth it.

Should You Disclose Plastic Surgery When Dating?

Thursday, July 5th, 2012

dating couple3 Should You Disclose Plastic Surgery When Dating? Dating has changed significantly over the years mostly because of the Internet. The Internet has allowed what used to be a fairly intimate process conducted within the circle of people that you meet in your daily social settings, to a scenario that appears to mean ”the world is your oyster”. Internet dating is heavily dependent upon pictures and most every site makes it very clear that the more pictures a profile has the more likely they are to receive responses. Obviously appearance has a lot to do with success in dating, at least on the Internet. So, plastic surgery is likely to help most people achieve their best most youthful appearance. Older adults as well as younger adults are likely to at least wonder if the person in the profile picture have had plastic surgery. A man looking at a beautiful woman in her late 20s to mid 30s who has had children and has a perfect figure is likely to wonder if she has had a tummy tuck or breast augmentation. A woman looking at a man in his mid-60s with virtually no wrinkles is likely to wonder if he has had a facelift. So, if you are one of the people who has made the decision to have plastic surgery to maintain your best appearance should you tell the person that you are dating? Dr. Stuart Kincaid advises patients throughout the plastic surgery experience to be proud of their decision; however to remember that their choices are personal. Patient should not disclose any information that they do not feel comfortable disclosing. Support for plastic surgery decisions is important because most people who have plastic surgery do so in part with the intention that it will increase their self-esteem and self-confidence. When patients have to defend their decision it can undermine their self-esteem and self-confidence. Looking good and feeling good is the ultimate goal so a patient’s decisions to disclose plastic surgery while dating should remain personal and should only happen when the patient feels 100% comfortable with the other person.

Plastic Surgery Financing; Should Patients Consider It?

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2012

Falling money Plastic Surgery Financing; Should Patients Consider It?  As our nation works through some of the most difficult financial times we have had in recent years financing has taken many different turns. We have seen serious economic shifts in our country and more personally in the lives of many Americans. While plastic surgery financing is not new, there are more programs available today than there were a few years ago. Elective cosmetic plastic surgery is a choice and should always remain a personal choice based on an individual patient’s desires. But, unlike other medical procedures cosmetic plastic surgery is an out-of-pocket expense and patients have to factor in the financial aspect of their plastic surgery decision. To an outsider looking at the situation it is easy to make a blanket statement that a breast augmentation or a liposuction procedure should not be set up on an interest-bearing payment plan solely because it is a choice. But, when looking at the situation objectively one must look at other items consumers pay for overtime which also bear interest and are not necessity. These items include but are not limited to furniture, cars, vacations and the list continues. The degree of necessity for each of these items varies as much as the person considering them. Dr. Stuart Kincaid makes financing available to patients not as an inducement to have plastic surgery but as a viable option should they make the choice to have plastic surgery and the only obstacle that remains is the financial aspect of the surgery. Dr. Stuart Kincaid is one of the few plastic surgeons in the San Diego/La Jolla/Temecula area who offers a wide range of financial options. He offers plans from several different companies and encourages patients to compare specifics about each financial company and the plans they offer and decide which plan works best for them. Dr. Stuart Kincaid also offers a unique layaway plan which allows patients to make payments prior to having their surgery without incurring interest. Patients who have a desire to maintain their best appearance and have decided to have plastic surgery are overwhelmingly happy with the many options Dr. Stuart Kincaid offers to them.

The evolution of breast implants

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2012

An infographic created by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) illustrates the evolution of breasts over time as an outcome to modern breast augmentation choices.

Statistics reflect positive feedback from women who received breast implants; one of the top plastic surgeries for women today.

The percentages presented in this infographic serve as an illustration of the changes in women’s breast size, enhancement and behavior over the course of time.

In 1997, approximately 101,000 women underwent breast augmentations. In 2011, this number more than tripled, with roughly 317,000 augmentations.

Not only has their been an increase in plastic surgeries, but also the average breast size since 1997 has increased from a 34B to a 36C. A C-cup is the women’s average size breast implant.

Six of the top reasons why women choose to get breast implants include the following: to look better naked (91%), to look better in clothes (84%), they want larger breasts (84%), to feel better about herself (81%), to feel more confident (79%) and to feel less self-conscious (74%).

Prior to the use of FDA-approved saline and silicone implants, women in the early 20th century used substances such as glass balls, ivory, wood chips, peanut oil and ox cartilage to enlarge their breasts.

Now, 31% of women use saline, a solid silicone outer shell filled sterile salt water, and 69% use silicone, an outer shell pre-filled with stable gel.

The common demographics of women to undertake this type of plastic surgery are in their mid-30s, married or in a long-term relationship and received some college education.

A study by realself.com also illustrated the satisfaction rating these women post-surgery. A high majority of women who have received breast augmentation plastic surgery would recommend the surgery, are happy about their decision and reported improvement in their self-confidence.

The correlation between breast augmentation and women’s positive feedback doesn’t stop short of just confidence enrichment. More than half of these women also reported having more frequent sex and a more satisfying sex life.

Skin Cancer Prevention May Be a New Reason for Having Your Morning Java

Monday, July 2nd, 2012

A good cup of coffee Skin Cancer Prevention May Be a New Reason for Having Your Morning Java There have been numerous coffee benefits discovered throughout the years. A new study indicates that coffee may help to prevent some forms of skin cancer. According to a recent online article a study published July 1 in the journal Cancer Research implies that consuming coffee may reduce the risk of developing basal cell carcinoma which is the most common form of skin cancer.  The study also discovered that tea with caffeine; colas and even chocolate also seem to reduce the risk as well. Female participants who consumed in excess of 3 cups of caffeinated coffee daily were 21% less likely to develop skin cancer compared with women who consumed less than one cup every month. In contrast male participants experienced a reduction risk that was 10%. “It’s the caffeine that’s most likely responsible for the beneficial effect,” said study co-author Jiali Han, an associate professor at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, in Boston. “Caffeine inhibits tumor progression. We saw the effect in mice and thought we should do this research to see if it applies to humans, too.” Han added that it is likely that increasing the amount of caffeine consumption would correlate with risk reduction however he does not recommend caffeine consumption for everyone.  Dr. Stuart Kincaid informs patients that skin cancer is one of the most preventable forms of cancer. Patient should wear sunscreen daily and avoid excessive sun exposure as one of the best ways to prevent skin cancer. Excessive sun exposure is also to blame for premature aging and wrinkling especially on the face. Dr. Stuart Kincaid encourages patients to be proactive concerning aging on the face as it is much more difficult to maintain a youthful appearance on skin that has been damaged by the sun. Dr. Stuart Kincaid offers many options for maintaining your most youthful appearance. Often he may suggest laser resurfacing as a way to treat existing sun damaged skin and allow the opportunity for new skin to develop. Dr. Stuart Kincaid may also recommend dermal fillers including Restylane and Juvederm to help add volume in areas where it has been lost in the face. This too can help with the appearance of aging. Dr. Stuart Kincaid also offers medical grade skin care treatments and medical grade skin care products to ensure patients maintain healthy skin. Dr. Stuart Kincaid encourages patients to schedule consultation to determine the best way to treat existing sun damage and begin a skin care regimen that will help them to maintain their most healthy skin.
