Plastic surgery blog:Is inflamation the root of obesity related illnesses?

Can obesity and other illnesses be seperated?

Can obesity and other illnesses be seperated?

Diabetes and heart disease usually tag along with extra pounds, a huge risk for the two-thirds of Americans who are overweight or obese. What isn’t clear is what sets off the cascade of damage that ends in illnesses like high blood pressure and heart disease. After all, there are examples of obese people who somehow stay metabolically fit – no high blood pressure or high blood sugar or high cholesterol. A local article reported on a study that used anti-inflammatory medications to fight the ill effects of obesity. The study shows promise but as you might imagine taking anti-inflammatory drugs on a regular basis can present other health issues.

Dr Stuart Kincaid requires that patients who are considering plastic surgery inform him of every medication they are taking.  If they take anti-inflamatory drugs on a regular basis Dr Stuart Kincaid will require  that they stop taking those and other drugs at least three weeks before surgery.  Sometimes patients feel that plastic surgery is not a big deal and that over the counter medication do not count as drugs.  Breast augmentation, liposuction, and rhinoplasty may seem like minor surgeries because they are elective procedures.  Dr Stuart Kincaid stresses to his patients that every surgery should be approached seriously and that safety is of the utmost importance.
