A large baby is not always born of a large mother
A recent article reported that a 525 lb woman gave birth to her first baby. The mother was happy that her baby girl 6.4 lbs. was healthy. Obviously a 525 lb woman has many issues concerning pregnancy. Her own health is compromised as well as the baby’s health. The doctors managed to provide prenatal care for the mother so the baby was delivered cesarean section and by all early accounts healthy. Postpartum weight for this patient is a moot point. In her case loosing weight is not a choice it is a matter of life and death.
Dr Stuart Kincaid consults with patients postpartum who are unhappy with their post pregnancy body. While most patients do not have a massive amount of weight to loose, it is a struggle for most women to diet down to a size that is close to their pre-pregnancy weight. Sadly, if they are able to loose the weight often times they are left with loose and lax skin especially around the abdomen. Dr Stuart Kincaid recommends an abdominoplastyto tighten both the muscles and skin. The muscles are not as tight after child birth especially after having a cesarean birth. Dr Stuart Kincaid often adds liposuction to give the abdominoplasty a more “finished” look around the waist.
