Drug abuse can find its way into the least likely places
A recent local article revealed that prescription drug abuse is on the rise among teens. In high school or Jr. High Vicodin pills go for $4 or $5. Adderall and Ritalin are also popular drugs that are abused and/or sold. While the use of illicit drugs like meth and cocaine are declining prescription drug use is through the roof. Children between the ages of 12 and 17 are the major abusers of prescription drugs. In fact, the article reports that 1 in 5 has abused medication.
When scheduling your plastic surgery procedure from Dr. Kincaid those who have children should take extra precautions with their medications. Pain medication is prescribed for pain management following surgery. Teenagers not only take the pills they may also sell them to their friends or grind them up and snort them for a quicker buzz. Also, it is important to note that pain medication can lead to severe constipation in those who take it so the use of a stool softener and the consumption of plenty of fluids is essential.
