Chocolate can be a health food
We have heard about the benefits of chocolate for quite some time now. A new study highlighted the positive aspects of chocolate and went as far as to conclude that a chocolate bar a day could prevent a heart attack. A bar of chocolate a day can cut the risk of heart disease and stroke by an amazing 39 percent, The Sun reported Tuesday. A 1.76 ounce (50g) treat has the greatest effect, according to Dr Brian Buijsse. And dark chocolate is better than milk or white because it has more cancer-busting anti-oxidants and more cocoa, which helps lower blood pressure.
Dr Stuart Kincaid keeps a close eye on the possibility of prospective patients having an elevated blood pressure. Often times patients may have not had a physical so therefore they are not aware of their blood pressure. Surgery can not be performed if the patient does not have their blood pressure under control. Patients seeking consultation with Dr Stuart Kincaid for elective procedures like rhinoplasty, facelift, or abdominoplasty are sometimes surprised to learn that their blood pressure is central to their overall health. When the blood pressure is too high complications are much more likely.

No more surgery for Liz!
No, we are not referring to plastic surgery. According to our local channel 8 news station Liz has sworn off any more surgery. The story stated that she is in extreme pain and has severe back and neck pain. After multiple surgeries (over 100 according to the article) Liz has decided enough is enough. The pain is reported to be excruciating but the article claims she can not bear another surgery.
Dr Kincaid can empathize with the situation that Liz Taylor finds herself in. He counsels his patients to take care of their bodies both inside and out. As we age slowing down is inevitable. Dr Stuart Kincaid can help maintain the outer appearance with both surgical and non surgical options These include injectable fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm. Botox is also an excellent non surgical option for treating wrinkles on the forehead. Dr Stuart Kincaid also offers surgical more permanent options such as a facelift, eyelift, or browlift. The goal is to look natural and not “pulled”. Dr Stuart Kincaid stresses to his patients that the best overall result is most likely when the patient has maintained a healthy lifestyle. The “pep in the step” should match the youthful appearance on the face.

Don't enjoy the beach without protecting your skin
Living in Southern California we are faced with sunny days most of the time. Now that the days are longer and the sun more intense the sun is really an issue. The everyday health online article offered some great strategies for keeping our skin protected. Everyday UV exposure can slowly cause sun damage to your skin, whether it’s just driving to work or heading out from your office to grab some lunch. Ultraviolet rays are those harmful rays that lead to skin damage. That means sun protection is a must every day.
“In general, the one thing that everyone should do on a daily basis is protect their skin from the damaging effects of the sun,” says Christine Lopez, MD, assistant program director in the department of dermatology at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. “It’s a known fact that long-term chronic sun exposure will lead to skin cancer.”
Dr Stuart Kincaid warns his patients about sun damage and protective measures. Often by the time they consult with him they have already allowed the sun to damage their skin. Dr Stuart Kincaid points out damage on the chest, face, and neck. If possible laser resurfacing is an excellent treatment because it destroys the top layers of the skin that have been damaged. Chemical peels also can work wonders on sun damaged skin. Dr Stuart Kincaid emphasizes that the patients must wear sun protection as their rejuvenated skin is more susceptible to sun damage.

Trim abs are a nice accesssory
Wow! Who would have ever thought? According to San Diego.com when the beer and nachos lifestyle has left men feeling a little self-conscious about the way their clothes fit, they will be thrilled to know that slimming undergarments are no longer just for the ladies. Spanx, a celebrity-slimming favorite, makes undershirts and tanks that are specifically made to trim, tuck and tame men’s waistlines.
Since they look like your basic, masculine undershirt, they are great for casual and formal affairs. Plus, they provide extra back support for a posture that is confident and composed.
Dr Stuart Kincaid consults with men and helps them to understand the procedures offered to them. Many men complain of a thickness in their abdominal area.If the thickness is just small areas of fat, then liposuction is an excellent option. Dr Stuart Kincaid sculpts the upper, and lower, abdomen including the love handles and lower back. This creates a toned and masculine waist. Dr Stuart Kincaid also recommends that his male patient take care of excessive breast tissue with gynecomastia surgery. He informs them that there are not any chest exercises that will make the chest flat. The surgery is life changing and the incisions are virtually undetectable.

Botox continues to show promise for other medical conditions
Local channel 10 news reported recently that a Houston man is able to walk again thanks to Botox. Javier Negrete was injured in a car accident. After his accident, Negrete suffered from severe muscle spasms that tightened up his arms, legs and feet. His left side of his body was basically tight, arms down to his legs, preventing him from getting out of his chair, preventing him from standing and actually being home by himself. The 26 year old Negrete is now able to walk with a cane and stand alone.
Dr Stuart Kincaid is encouraged as new uses are found for Botox. He cautions his patients to beware of overzealous claims and to be mindful of the way Botox and the competitor Dysport work. Botox paralyzes the muscle. This prevents the furrow between the eyes and prevents crows feet on the outer corner of the eye from being prevalent. While there have been claims made for Botox in the nasal labial folds (the lines from the nose to the mouth) Dr Stuart Kincaid explains to his patients that the risk of a compromised smile outweigh any possible benefit. Consumers are confused about Botox as it has become more readily available and price has become a large part of the patients decision where to have Botox. Dr Stuart Kincaid advises his patients that jumping from place to place chasing the best price on Botox could cost more in the long run. It is best to use the same injector who you trust each time.

Snack healthy for the best mood
According to our local channel 10.com not only are mood foods good for you but they can also help you to feel better.
Change your diet, change your mood? Science says the answer is yes.
Food isn’t just fuel for the body; it feeds the mind and changes our moods. Food scientists are still exploring the big picture regarding food and mood, but it’s clear that certain foods have a feel-good factor.
While we are what we eat, there are certain changes in our body that happen over time no matter what we eat or how much we work out. One of the most annoying for women of every size is the flabby underarm. Some refer to them as bat wings. They appear to be more pronounced on women. Some believe exercises for the triceps will correct the sagging skin. This is simply not true. Dr Stuart Kincaid advises patients that he can perform an arm lift. The incision is made on inner side of the arm and typically goes to the inner elbow. It is well hidden when the patient has their arms by their side. Dr Stuart Kincaid finds that his patients are so happy with their new thinner arms that the scar is well worth it.

Is staying thin a lifestyle choice?
The on line publication Everyday Health reviewed the book entitled French Women Don’t Get Fat recently and found the book to have some very practical advice. A self-proclaimed “non-diet book,” French Women Don’t Get Fat is a popular eating plan designed by Mireille Guiliano, a French woman who gained weight after visiting America as an exchange student. In her book, Guiliano attempts to share how French women tend to stay thin despite sampling lavish food and wine.
“French Women Don’t Get Fat is teaching a way of life, trying to bring awareness to what you are eating, trying to teach you to slow down,” says Audrey Young, MS, RD, LDN, a registered dietitian in Newton, Mass. In theory it is easy to see why it works.
Dr Stuart Kincaid has many in his patient population dieting and using some sort of diet plan. Dr Stuart Kincaid emphasizes to his past surgical patients that weight fluctuations including loss of weight could affect their surgical outcome. Breast augmentation patients, especially those with very little breast tissue may find that with a loss of as little as five -ten pounds they may see, and or feel, the implant ripple on the sides or the cleavage line. This is more prevalent with saline implants but can happen with silicone implants as well. Dr Stuart Kincaid reminds patients that a healthy stable weight should be the goal.

An Oscar win and a marriage lost
Wow, when you have just won your first Oscar you want to bask in the glow of the moment. Unfortunately, Sandra Bullock has been unable to do that. The tattoo model linked to Sandra Bullock’s husband, Jesse James, was paid approximately $30,000 for her story about the former Monster Garage star, Technorati reports. Jesse James apologizes to Sandra Bullock: “I deserve everything bad coming my way” The site attributed the amount to a source close to the model, Michelle “Bombshell” McGee. On Wednesday, In Touch printed a cover story featuring an interview with tattoo model McGee, who claims to have had an 11-month affair with James while Bullock was filming The Blind Side. Our local CBS channel 8 picked the story up and most international news outlets did as well.
Dr Stuart Kincaid takes the time in his consultations to discuss the motivation each patient has for seeking plastic surgery. When patients tell him the desire is based on” saving” a relationship, he explains that plastic surgery is for the individual having the surgery, not for someone else. When women seek breast augmentation and make decisions on their implant size or type of implant based on the desire of a partner or friend it can have disastrous results. Dr Stuart Kincaid urges his patients to make decisions based on their own desires. After all ,the patient will have to live with their decision often for a lifetime.

A beautiful neckline needs a beautiful neck
Fashion is important for most women when it comes to making a good impression. The neckline is a lot more important than many women think. According to a recent story on channel 8 the neckline can actually flatter or doom a woman’s look.
“Often, when an outfit doesn’t work, it’s because of the neckline,” explains Houston stylist and fashion show producer Todd Ramos.
On the other hand, choose the right cut, and you’ll appear taller, slimmer and more stylish. How to create this magic? You have to factor in your bust size, neck length, height and even face shape. Here’s a guide to discovering which necklines work for you.
No matter how nice the neckline a wrinkled neck can draw attention away from an otherwise beautiful outfit. Dr Stuart Kincaid consults with patients who are concerned about the aging effects present on their necks. Dr Stuart Kincaid explains that sun damage, smoking, and loss of muscle tone all contribute to a wrinkled neck. While a neck lift is an option, more often than not, Dr Stuart Kincaid will recommend a face lift. The face lift is a better value because the neck is tightened along with the lower face. This takes care of jowling and also lifts the cheeks.Dr Stuart Kincaid advises his patients to use medical grade skincare products to maintain their best look.

San Diego beaches, beautiful women part of the Southern California landscape
We are based in Southern California. A plastic surgeon who practices in this area is keenly aware of which celebrities are the “hot” topic especially concerning their looks. The flavor of the week seems to be Lindsay Lohan who according to our local channel 10 news.com is back in the news because of a lawsuit. The story covered her decade of varying looks. Many showed obvious differences due to plastic surgery but one would be irresponsible if they viewed the photo gallery and ignored the lifestyle changes. Celebs are always under the camera/microscope and are under pressure to always put their best face (and body) forward.
Dr Stuart Kincaid consults with patients wanting a new look or transformation. Unlike a celebrity , most patients are not under a critical camera lens. They want the change for themselves. Fortunately, there are many different options Dr Stuart Kincaid can recommend. Most patients want to perfect their face first and foremost. Many seek rhinoplasty for an improved profile and more refined look. Some elect for Botox to clam the wrinkle between the brow that looks like a mean frown. For women who are dissatisfied with the shape and volume of their breast, a breast augmentation is an ideal recommendation. Wardrobe choices are more diverse after surgery and many change their entire wardrobe style. Dr Stuart Kincaid enjoys helping his patients experience a transformation.
